Korean Language Courses
At Vancouver Sejong, we offer comprehensive Korean language courses at three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Our regular terms begin three times a yearβin January, May, and September.
Each course runs for 14 weeks, with 2 hours of instruction per week, totaling approximately 28 hours per term.
This schedule is designed to support steady language acquisition while accommodating the pace of working adults and university students.
π’ Beginner Level
This course is intended for learners who have no or minimal experience with the Korean language.
Students will learn the Korean alphabet (Hangeul), basic sentence structure, everyday vocabulary, and common expressions used in greetings, self-introduction, shopping, and daily life.
By the end of the term, learners will be able to read and write simple Korean sentences and carry out basic conversations.
π΅ Intermediate Level
Designed for students who are familiar with Hangeul and can construct basic sentences, this level focuses on enhancing grammar, speaking fluency, listening comprehension, and reading skills.
Learners will practice expressing opinions, describing experiences, and understanding short dialogues and texts.
Cultural content is also integrated into the lessons, encouraging students to explore Korea beyond the language.
π΄ Advanced Level
This course is for learners who can carry on everyday conversations in Korean but want to advance their command of the language.
The class focuses on complex grammar, advanced vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and longer reading/listening materials such as short articles, news, and interviews.
Students will develop the ability to express abstract ideas and participate in discussions on cultural and social topics.
Online & In-Person Learning
All of our courses are primarily conducted online sessions.
This allows learners from anywhere in British Columbia (and beyond) to join conveniently from home.
Each course also includes up to 2 in-person sessions per term for optional speaking practice and cultural exchange events.
These sessions are held in the Greater Vancouver area and announced in advance.
β οΈ Please note: In-person classes are limited and require separate inquiry and pre-registration.
